The port’s name comes from Dover, England. In the early 1800s, Daniel McQueen created the village of Dover Mills about two miles north of Lake Erie. The village burned in 1814 by Americans, but was rebuilt. Over time, Port Dover became known for its fishing industry.

If you are craving an Arbor hot dog or an afternoon at the beach, this is the place for you. Port Dover is a beautiful and quiet resort town with friendly people and, of course, the scenic beach. Jump into the water for a relaxing swim or soak up the sun on the sand for that South Coast tan. The pier is a focal point for anglers, couples in love, and seniors watching the fishing tugs return with their catches. If you want to hit the open water, the waterfront boasts a great marina and charter tours.

Long Point Bay is a MUST destination for fishing! Long Point Bay on Lake Erie can be described as tropical fishing paradise full of hard-fighting Smallmouth Bass, Largemouth Bass, Northern Pike and many other species.
Long Point Bay is a world-class bass fishery. With depths ranging from 2-10', the inner bay warms up early creating ideal spawning grounds for the majority of bass this side of Lake Erie.
